Ways to Save Money on your Invitations

With the economy in a slump, everyone is looking for ways to cut their spending and stretch their dollar a little further. Weddings are expensive and we love to help our brides get the most for their invitation dollar. Here are some simple ways that you can save money on your invitations.

1. Use an RSVP postcard instead of a card and envelope. You will save at least $0.50 per invitation, plus the difference in postage ($0.42 vs. $0.27 each).

2. If the reception is in the same location, you don't need a separate reception card. Just print "Reception immediately following" on the bottom of the invitation and forgo the extra card.

3. If the reception is in a different location and your invitation has room at the bottom, you can even print the reception name and location on the bottom of the invitation.

4. Pockets are very popular right now, but can get pricey with all the insert cards. Instead of using a pocket invitation, select a panel or a folded card invitation and tie the insert cards together with a pretty ribbon to keep them nice and neat.

5. Instead of selecting metallic cardstock for your invitation layers, create your invitation with matte cardstocks. Add a metallic outer envelope instead. Choosing a matte cardstock for the pocket can often be a big savings per invitation.

6. Opt for an oblong invitation instead of square. Square or extremely large invitations require additional postage. Typically, a $0.17 non-machinable surcharge is required to mail these square and large invitations.

We hope these suggestions help you in finding the most cost effective solution for your wedding invitations. As always, we look forward to working with you in the future! Please let us know if you have any questions. We'd be happy to help!

August News!

It's August and we are finally past the peak of wedding season! We want to thank all the brides who chose Invitation Creations for their wedding stationary so far this year. We've had a lot of fun designing beautiful invitations for all of you!

We are less than 2 weeks away from the birth of our little girl now - we are due on 8/16, but we could be induced as early as this weekend depending on how our appointment goes on Wednesday. Because of this fact, we are no longer accepting any invitation orders at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we would hate to accept your order and not be able to get it done for you in time. Please note that we will update our website and blog when we are again accepting orders.

Thank you for your patience during this time and we look forward to serving you later this year!

Happy May!

It's May and the peak of wedding season is upon us! If you are planning a wedding and thinking about wedding invitations, we would love to help you. During peak wedding season remember these key timelines for ordering invitations from us.

Once the final proof is approved (this includes your full paper sample, if you chose to have one made) it can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks production time before your order ships. If your invitations include ribbon or have elaborate assembly requirements, the timeline can be more than 6 weeks. We do offer a service where we will ship you your envelopes in advance for $10 so you can work on addressing them while we finish processing your order. We also offer an addressing, stuffing and sending service where we can take care of mailing out your invitations for you. Contact us for pricing.

Also during peak wedding season, many of the cardstocks can become backordered. As soon as you are ready to order your invitations, please do so. The more in advance your order is placed, the more time we have to react if there is a backordered product. Remember you need to mail your invitations out 6 - 8 weeks in advance of your wedding date and don't forget to allow enough time for addressing all those envelopes!

We are currently experiencing issues with our online order forms and are working with our website host to correct the problem. If you would like to place an online order, order a sample or request paper samples, please email us at info@invitation-creations.com and we can process your order via email instead.

Lastly, we are excited to announce that our owner, Dawn, is expecting her first baby (a baby girl!) in August! During the month of August and September, we will be accepting only a limited number of orders. Please plan accordingly when placing your orders during this time and realize that it may take slightly longer for emails/phone calls to be returned.

We continue to work on our online store for favors and other wedding related items. We hope to launch our store by the end of the second quarter. We will keep you posted!
